Watford have wished Gerard Deulofeu well for his recovery after confirming the extent of the winger’s anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The Spaniard was stretchered off in the first half of Saturday’s 3-0 win over runaway leaders Liverpool after twisting his knee following a challenge with Virgil van Dijk.

Hornets head coach Nigel Pearson revealed yesterday that Deulofeu was set to miss the remainder of the season after scans confirmed he had sustained an ACL injury.

The Hornets have stated via twitter that the former Barcelona player has a “ruptured ACL and torn meniscus” and will be undergoing surgery, adding: “Come back stronger, Geri, we’re all with you.”
