Parmiter’s Year Seven footballers have reached the semi-finals of this year’s National Cup with a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Grey Court School from Richmond.

The game had finished 2-2 in normal time, with Permiter’s coming from behind to first equalise through Tobi Biobaku’s finish at the back post from a set-piece, and then take the lead with Yoosuf Lalchan getting round the back of the Grey Court defenders to beat the onrushing keeper in a one-on-one.

Parmiter’s own goalkeeper William Denning put in an impressive second-half display, making three important stops, but there was little he could do with a late equaliser for Grey Court, which meant extra-time was required.

Both sides created chances, but no one was able to find a breakthrough in the additional period and the game had to be decided on spot kicks, with Biobaku scoring the decider in a dramatic 5-4 shootout win.

Head of Boys PE at Parmiter’s Tom Clark spoke of his pride in his group of players, as he eyes a place in the final of the competition.

“I am incredibly proud of this group of individuals who continue to improve each game,” he said.

“The way they support each other on the pitch is a credit to themselves. With the same desire shown in this game, there is absolutely no reason why they can’t continue their success in the semi final.”
