Watford FC fans reacted to the club's Twitter announcement of its new head coach - with many tongue-in-cheek comments that Vladimir Ivić did not look happy.

Ivić started work with the Hornets squad today (August 17) after it was announced over the weekend that he had agreed to a one year contact with the option of a further year held by the club to succeed former manager Nigel Pearson.

It is the Serbian football manager's first time in England and Ivić said he has "big expectations" of himself and his coaching staff.

On Saturday, Watford tweeted a picture of their new coach. Twitter users were quick to respond to the social media announcement, noting Ivić's stern face as he held up Watford's new kit.

Kieren Rees tweeted: "He looks thrilled to be here."

Another user wrote: "You can tell by the look on his face..this man means proper business."

Chris Stark tweeted: "If that's his smiling face would hate to spill his pint."

One Twitter user, Jordan Trav, decided to "fix" the photo:

Jokes aside, some Twitter users commended the new signing.

Gilad Kachlon tweeted: "He is tough, but loyal to his players, and from what they said in the last few months they just love him."

Another user said Ivić is a "good coach".

He wrote: "People of Watford should trust him and I don't know if you guys change coaches every month but this guy knows what he is doing".

One user, Constantino, said he will bring "calm" inside the team.

He wrote: "Believe him and give him space to make his best, from the first game you are going to see his work."

Paul Mathews described the appointment of Ivić as "inspired".

He wrote: "Serbian head coaches have a 100 percent record of getting Watford FC promoted to the Premier League in their first season in charge, so this is an inspired appointment."

But some people on Twitter said they believe his career at Watford will be a short one.
