Watford are close to completing a move for defender Francisco Sierralta, the Watford Observer understands.

The Chilean-born centre-half is currently on loan at Empoli from Udinese, but we understand the 23-year-old is close to finalising a loan move from the fellow Pozzo-owned club.

The 6ft 4in centre-half began his career with Club Deportivo Universidad Catolica before joining Granada in 2015, only to make an instant loan return to the Chilean club.

A further loan spell followed at CD Palestino in his homeland before Sierralta made the switch to Udinese in 2017.

The twice capped international has since spent two seasons on loan at Parma before he joined Empoli in a temporary deal in January, making 12 appearances and scoring once last season.
