Jeremy Ngakia is hoping Watford make the most of their friendly with Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow afternoon.

The Hornets will host Spurs at Vicarage Road in their final friendly of pre-season before their Championship campaign begins with a home fixture against Middlesbrough next Friday night.

Speaking to the club website, Ngakia, who scored the winner against Scunthorpe in Watford's last pre-season friendly, said facing Jose Mourinho's men was a good chance to challenge themselves ahead of the new season.

“I’m looking forward to it," he said. "It’s still only a pre-season match but we’re going to try our best and we need to make the most of these games to get ourselves ready for the start of the season.

“It’s good to test ourselves against a top team like Spurs, but for me every game is important, regardless of the opposition. I’ll treat it exactly the same as I did when we were playing Scunthorpe last weekend.

“They’ve got some really good attacking players, but I’ll focus on what I need to do and back myself.”

Following on from his goal against the Iron, Ngakia hopes he will be able to contribute more throughout the season, but claims that he will be more focused on his team winning than his personal goals tally.

“Hopefully I’ll be scoring a few more this season, but I’m not really one for setting a goals target. I’m just focusing on the team performance,” he said.

“We need to work together as a team to get the club back to where we belong. Obviously as a player you’d love to score goals, but I’d rather not score and my team win than the other way around.”

With next season kicking off just 41 days after the last one finished, the teenager realises this is far from a usual situation.

“It has felt a bit strange to be fair, getting ready for the new season so soon after the last one, but everyone just has to get on with it as there’s nothing we can do about it,” he added.

“I feel good and I’m ready to get going.”
