Watford got their Championship campaign off to a winning start against Middlesbrough on Friday night. Here's how we rated their individual performances:

Ben Foster - 7

Was made to work for his clean sheet, but did well to keep out some tricky shots.

Kiko Femenia - 6

The back three allowed him to get forward and attack more and he pitched in well in the first-half before he was forced out with an injury.

Craig Cathcart - 7.5

Took his goal extremely well and marshalled the defence with real leadership. An impressive display.

Christian Kabasele - 6

Looked a little clumsy at times, but got the job done.

Ben Wilmot - 6.5

An impressive league debut from Wilmot, who defended well and played with passion. You can tell he has learnt a great deal from his experience with Swansea.

Jeremy Ngakia - 6

A strong defensive display from the full-back, who got forward a couple of times as well.

Tom Cleverley - 5.5

The midfield really struggled to maintain possession and Cleverley had a quieter game than he would've hoped.

Nathanial Chalobah - 5.5

Had a similar game to Cleverley - couldn't link defence to attack effectively and often conceded cheaply.

Domingos Quina - 4.5

Looked lost and struggled to keep up with the game. Was easily outmuscled and played plenty of stray passes.

Ken Sema - 6

A good delivery from the corner to set the goal up for Cathcart. Was unable to make the most of his strength and was brushed off the ball too easily at times.

Joao Pedro - 6.5

Looked lively throughout the first-half, but ran out of steam in the second. Needed better service from those behind him.

SUBS

Glenn Murray - 5.5

Didn't offer a great deal after coming off the bench, but used his experience to retain possession and win a couple of free-kicks that helped slow the game.

Marc Navarro - N/A

Joined too late to make enough of an impact

Dan Phillips - N/A
