Vladimir Ivic felt his Watford side should have beaten Brentford in their 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road after finishing the game with one man more.

Ethan Pinnock was sent off for the visitors in the second half when he fouled Ismaila Sarr in the penalty area. Troy Deeney converted the spot kick however, the lead was short lived with Ivan Toney equalising shortly after.

The head coach said his side's performance in the final stages of the match was "totally crazy" and that he could not understand his players' approach, given that they had an extra man on the field.

"We cannot be satisfied with one point because of everything what's happened," said Ivic. "When we stayed with the one player more, we tried to change the situation with two strikers extra inside to use our wingers and fullbacks more for crossing, but we played totally totally opposite in the last 15, 20 minutes.

"We tried to play with the long ball from behind to their central defenders, which is totally totally crazy.

"We need to find the reason and we need to fix this problem."

Despite his dissatisfaction at the way they finished the game, Ivic was pleased with the way his side had responded at the start of the second half.

However, he admitted they had been fortunate to emerge unscathed from a difficult first 45 minutes.

"When we played 11 against 11 in the second half, it was much better and we were the team who were dominant," he said. "If you speak about the first 45 minutes, we must be realistic and say that Brentford was a team who were dominant and who controlled the game.

"Maybe they deserved something more from this 45 minutes, but in the second 45 minutes I believe that we started good we were the team who had a good defence, good pressing and good passing in this first 10, 15 minutes."
