Francisco Sierralta was named Watford's January player of the month following an online vote.

Supporters were asked to choose between the Chilean defender, goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann or midfielder Tom Cleverley.

The centre back picked up 84 per cent of the vote, making him the clear favourite.

Sierralta started every single game in January as Watford kept three clean sheets from six appearances in all competitions and has made himself an important part of the team since he was brought in for the Boxing Day win over Norwich City.

Before Monday's defeat to Queens Park Rangers, head coach Xisco Munoz said he was pleased with Sierralta's passion and work rate and thinks there is room for him to get even better.

"He's right now, staying in an excellent moment," said Munoz. "He has very good things. He has this passion, he has this work. Every time he shows he is a winner, and I'm very happy with him and I need for him to continue improving because he's young.

"I saw him before when he was with Chile. I know about him. I know he can improve, he can give more. But the most important, I'm very happy with him because when we finish the game, every time he gives 100 per cent for the team and for a coach that's important."
