Maurizio Pochettino scored on his first appearance for Watford Under 23s as they beat Ipswich Town 3-2.
Dom Hutchison and Sonny Blu Lo-Everton were also on target for the young Hornets in an exciting fixture in which the winning goal was scored late one.
Lead Under-23 Coach Omer Riza described the win as "very satisfying" after the Tractor Boys looked to have nicked a point in the 83rd minute, only for Everton to find an even later winner.
"It's very satisfying to come away with the three points," Riza told the club website.
"Their equaliser came at a poor time and they looked like they were going to win it and we would go on to lose it. We changed the system to a back five as they went 4-2-4 and allowed Shaq and Sonny to be creative on the break and it worked as we got that goal. I'm really pleased."
