Joseph Hungbo has had his Watford contract extended until the summer of 2022.
The 21-year-old arrived as a free agent after leaving Crystal Palace in the summer of 2019 and made his debut in the FA Cup defeat away at Tranmere Rovers in January last year.
Just months after being sent out to Aldershot on a short-term youth loan, Hungbo is starting to force his way into the Hornets' senior squad and has impressed in recent cameo appearances from the substitutes' bench.
Following Saturday's 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest, head coach Xisco Munoz described the attacking midfielder as "an example" after he came on and injected some much-needed pace into a damp squib of a second half.
His contract had been due to expire this summer, but his performances have impressed the hierarchy sufficiently that he has been awarded with an extra year.
