Dan Gosling is targeting improvement next season as Watford begin to think about their Premier League preparations.

The Hornets finished their Championship campaign on a high, beating Swansea City 2-0 at Vicarage Road to take their final points tally up to 91, finishing in second place behind champions Norwich City.

While the former Bournemouth man was pleased to have put last weekend's lacklustre defeat at Brentford behind him, he knows there is plenty of hard work to do before next season kicks off.

"It was disappointing last week," said Gosling on Hive Live. "It was probably a 50/50 game, but we came out in the second half and were really sloppy.

Watford Observer:

"[They scored] one goal inside 30 seconds and the game was sort of done really. Today, going into the last game, at home, it's a shame there's no fans here, it would have been brilliant but to finish with a win, we've finished on a high and a good performances, it's really good and we're going into next season now positive, but we know we've got lots to work on and improve."

Gosling played his part in today's win, as did a number of second string players, like Achraf Lazaar, Marc Navarro and Isaac Success, who scored the second goal of the match.

The midfielder was pleased to see his teammates impress on their rare opportunities.

"A few of the boys have been really unlucky and not playing as much," said Gosling. "Players like Marc and Achraf, obviously the boys in front of them have been doing really well and when you win in consecutive games it's hard to change a team.

"I think Isma [Sarr] got a nice rest today and last week, he's put in a great shift over the season, so it's nice for a few of the boys to get a game and we can now go into summer and regroup and go again."
