Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster has urged Will Hughes to stay at Watford, amid interest from Aston Villa.

The midfielder is still in the process of negotiating a contract and has previously stated that he does want to stay with the Hornets beyond his current deal, but an agreement has not yet been reached.

Hughes has several admirers, including Villa who are keeping tabs on the situation.

In a video on his YouTube channel, the Cycling GK, Foster shared footage from the training ground as the players started their pre-season preparations at the beginning of the week.

In a clip containing himself and Hughes at the start of the video, the keeper urges Hughes not to join the midlands club.

"Don't go [to] Villa, Will. Do not go [to] Villa," he says before adding "Please stay here. Stay here."

The remarks appear to be made jokingly, but Villa are understood to be monitoring the player's situation closely, in the event that a deal can be struck.

The upcoming season is the last on the 26-year-old's current contract and, should an agreement not be reached, it could be in the club's interest to cash in on the player rather than allow him to leave for free at the end of the year.
