Three men are cycling a distance none of them have done before to support the entertainment industry and an Emmerdale actor is joining them on their journey.

On Saturday July 10, the three entertainment agents will embark on a 156 mile charity bike ride from Sheffield to London to raise money for The Entertainment Agents’ Association Benevolent Fund, Rotherham Hospice and Cancer Research UK.

Usually working behind the scenes generating work for their represented talent, this will be a complete role reversal, as the agents step into the spotlight.

An entertainment agent will find work for actors and performers in the entertainment industry, from musicians and singers to directors and television presenters.

Peter Chittenden from Live Business in Watford, Simon Quarmby from SQP Live in Rotherham and Paul Winteridge from Vern Allen Group in Exeter, are also council members of The Entertainment Agents’ Association.

One of Simon Quarmby's represented artists, actor Dean Andrews from the drama series Emmerdale, will be riding alongside the team, together with three other friends and associates of the agents.

By raising money for the Association’s Benevolent Fund, they will be helping to support members who are facing life changing health issues, illness or other related causes.

Peter Chittenden explained: “It has been a particularly tough time for everyone in the entertainment industry throughout the pandemic, but we wanted to come together and do something positive.

“None of us are experienced, long distance bike riders, but we have all been training at weekends and hopefully that effort will enable us to complete the 156 miles, a feat that none of us have attempted before.”

The team will be leaving on Saturday at 9am from Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Sheffield for the first 100 miles of the journey with an overnight stop in Northampton.

The two-day cycle ride, should see them arriving at The Entertainment Agents’ Association headquarters in Pimlico, London on Sunday July 11 at around 2pm.

The three men are raising money for charities that are close to their hearts and hope that people will donate what they can afford via the Just Giving page.

With two support vehicles following the cyclists, there is a planned route so that people can show their support and cheer them on along the way.

Anyone wishing to donate can do so by visiting the Just Giving Page here.
