Watford supporters on average are not too optimistic about the club’s upcoming Premier League campaign, new figures show.

A survey completed by Sky Bet and YouGov as part of their Fan Hopes campaign asked fans of each Premier League team a series of questions about their expectations of the new season.

They surveyed 1,005 UK adults aged 18 and over who are fans of the associated clubs.

Hornets fans scored an average of 5.75 out of 10 in the Fan Hope league table, placing them in 16th position amongst Premier League fanbases.

Watford joined Brentford and Norwich in being promoted from the Championship to England’s top-flight of football this season, but out of the three promoted clubs only 17 per cent of fellow Premier League fans have tipped the Hornets to be the surprise package in this campaign.

The upcoming campaign promises to be a tough one for the club, but additions have been brought in to improve the overall quality of the squad.

Nine players in total have arrived, while Cucho Hernandez is more or less a tenth new signing, having never kicked a ball for the Hornets prior to pre-season.

Watford will kick off their Premier League campaign against Aston Villa on Saturday, August 14.
