Andre Gray scored for a Watford academy side away at Kings Langley last night after returning from international duty with Jamaica.

The striker has missed the beginning of pre-season due to his involvement in the CONCACAF Gold Cup but scored on his first game back, turning in a saved penalty on the rebound.

Nevertheless, his future at Vicarage Road appears to be nearing its end with the club looking for alternative arrangements for the attacker between now and the end of the transfer window.

With only one season remaining on his contract, it is now hoped he will be moved on, freeing up some wages in the process, but his significant salary could be a stumbling block for any suitors.

Also involved in the game at Kings Langley, which ended in a 4-2 defeat, were Stipe Perica and Marc Navarro, both of whom are understood to be on a list of players deemed surplus to requirements.

Colombian midfielder Jaime Alvarado got his first taste of football as a Hornets player, having joined the club back in 2017. He is still only 22-years-old.

He has since spent time on loan at Valladolid B, Hercules, Badalona and Athletico Paranaense in recent seasons.
