Filippo Galli has described new Watford signing Juraj Kucka as a player with "personality" who can take the club forward.

The 34-year old Slovakia international made 253 appearances in Serie A and is set to pen a two-year after joining from relegated Parma for around £2million.

A player with presence and an eye for goal, the veteran becomes the first Slovak in the club’s history and will fill a void Will Hughes could leave behind.

Kucka is a like-for-like replacement for the former Derby County midfielder, who looks set for a switch to depart after turning down Watford’s new contract offer.

AC Milan legend and former Watford player, Galli, who knows Kucka well after watching him shine for the Rossoneri in the 2016/2017 season, praised the Hornets for snapping up the tenacious midfielder.

“Kucka is a top-level player who makes his presence felt on the pitch, both on the front foot and on the back foot”, Galli said.

“Going forward he knows when to get into dangerous areas without the ball. He has personality, temper and a good technique. It’s a great signing for Watford.”
