Watford have announced the signing of midfielder Juraj Kucka from Parma.

His arrival from the Serie A side was expected from midway through last week and the deal has now been confirmed after he passed a medical earlier today.

The 34-year old Slovakia international made 253 appearances in Serie A and has penned a two-year deal after joining for around £2million.

Former Hornets' player and AC Milan legend Filippo Galli has described the player as a "great signing".

“Kucka is a top-level player who makes his presence felt on the pitch, both on the front foot and on the back foot”, he said.

“Going forward he knows when to get into dangerous areas without the ball. He has personality, temper and a good technique. It’s a great signing for Watford.”

Kucka is primarily a central midfielder and has been brought in to bolster an area that could see outgoings before the end of the transfer window.

Will Hughes is moving closer to a departure, while Nathaniel Chalobah is yet to extend his contract and could also leave.
