Xisco Munoz has called on Watford supporters to provide both an atmosphere and a connection for his team ahead of his Premier League debut on Saturday.

The head coach will take charge of his first game in the English top flight against Aston Villa this weekend and knows how big of a moment it will be in his career.

He has asked for the supporters to be with his team this season, one he knows will likely be very tough.

"Always when I speak with the guys about this, I say we need everyone," said Munoz after their friendly defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

"I need also very good atmosphere, with the fans, with everyone. It's important this season we have this connection. We need them, because it's one more thing for our team."

In order to achieve Premier League survival in the upcoming campaign, the head coach wants his team to take a step-by-step approach to the challenge.

“We know the Premier League, I think everybody knows the level and we have to give our maximum," he said.

"It’s not the same mentality as last season.

“Last season in the Championship, maybe you are the king. Now we need to work every day to build our idea and take points, take points, take points. It’s important to work with humility and step-by-step we arrive at our big goal."
