Xisco Munoz insists that he is remaining calm despite Watford losing three Premier League games in a row.

After an exciting 3-2 opening day win over Aston Villa, the Hornets have since failed to score in matches against Brighton, Tottenham and Wolves, while conceding goals that the head coach has described as “soft”.

However, the Spaniard is not panicking and is trusting his players to start picking up points, playing with the style he says they are working on in training.

“I’m calm, because I know what is the level of our defence,” said Munoz.

“And also I’m very calm about our strikers because I see the guys every day in training. And they have a very good talent for scoring goals. I’m not afraid of this. It’s not a big problem because I’m sure when we have the balance about the situation, it will be better. I’m sure it’s only this moment.

“For me, it’s important to give 100 per cent in the game. If we play very well with our style, I’m sure we will take the points.”

While winning against Norwich this weekend is the primary goal, for Munoz, remaining calm and not getting carried away with the occasion is also very important.

The head coach understands why this weekend’s match may be given extra significance by some, but is mainly focused on getting the best out of the players he puts onto the pitch.

“Sure, that’s [winning] the objective, but sometimes in football, something happens and for me it’s the most important to stay calm,” he said.

“We need to continue. We’re sure we have important games, we know how important the games are.

“We know exactly what is the context of the game, because both teams want to stay, for next season, another time in the Premier League. And it’s important to give our best. If we play our best, I’m sure we will be able to take the points.”

Watford’s preparation going into this weekend’s match has been good, according to Munoz, who said he can sense the team’s togetherness and effort.

Although he acknowledged that, at the moment, results are not what he would like them to be, he believes things will soon turn around once his team has adapted.

“We’ve had a lot of changes. We’ve had a lot of things and I think it’s part of the game,” he said.

“This week was very well because everyone worked very hard.

“I feel when the people want to improve. I feel when our team always tries to give all the best in the week, and also at the weekend.

“I feel when we have positive things, always trying to give our best every day. I feel it when our team is training everyday with passion for all the situations and also I know that everyone knows what is our amazing goal this season.

“This is something that the fans and journalists maybe don’t get to see. This is how I feel at the training ground every day.

“I understand the process and always I try to give balance to all the situations. The Premier League is long, it’s 38 games and never in football have I seen a team just go up like this. Always in football, it’s up and down. I think we need to start going up, and we are working very hard. It’s only like this.

“This is our style. I’m sure 100 per cent, the players we have in our team are clever and professional players and the process is shorter when you have very good talent. This is true. And I tell you, I’m sure our team will be our team soon.”
