Claudio Ranieri has said that Arsenal did not show Watford respect following his side's 1-0 defeat at the Emirates.

At the end of the match, the Italian was seen arguing with Gunners' boss Mikel Arteta in relation to the only goal of the game, in which he felt Arsenal ought to have given the ball back to Watford in the build up, after the Hornets had put the ball out to allow an injured player the chance to receive treatment.

"We put out the ball and everybody expected Arsenal to give back the ball," said Ranieri.

"Sissoko and Rose said, 'give the ball to us, we put the ball out, there was an injured player'. After this it was very strange.

"There was a cross, Kiko Femenia hit the ball with the header, Sarr took the ball, in my opinion there's a big foul, but nothing happened and then they score the goal. It was very, very strange.

"Our relationship [Ranieri and Arteta] is very good, I told to him there isn’t respect when we put the ball out. I said there isn’t respect in this action, just this."

Overall, Ranieri was pleased with the way his side played in the match, but felt that they made some bad decisions in attack.

"I'm satisfied with our performance. Our players worked all together, all the players worked a lot. Of course the first half was a very tactical match, we tried to close all situations, there were some good chances for Arsenal, they had a big chance with the penalty.

"Ben foster saved very well the penalty and we made some mistakes on the counter attack, we didn’t choose the right pass.

"The performance was good. Ofcourse, in the second half after the goal Arsenal had more space. We had chances to draw the match until the end, my players were on the pitch trying to draw."
