Watford defender Francisco Sierralta suffered a 2-0 defeat with Chile at the hands of Ecuador during the international break.
Former Hornet Pervis Estupinan opened the scoring before Moises Caicedo wrapped up the win in stoppage time.
Sierralta's teammate Arturo Vidal was sent off after only 13 minutes.
Elsewhere Nigeria earned a draw against Cape Verde to take them through to the final round of qualifying for Qatar 2022, with the help of Watford's William Troost-Ekong and Maduka Okoye.
All players will now return to their clubs ahead of this weekend's domestic fixtures, with the Hornets set to face Manchester United on Saturday at Vicarage Road.
