The announcement that Sir Elton John will again be taking to the stage at Vicarage Road next summer as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour immediately brings back memories of his previous shows at the home of the Hornets.

Watford’s Honorary Life President has played three concerts at the club where his name will be forever part of folklore after he became chairman and oversaw the golden era in the club’s history when Graham Taylor’s side rose through up the football pyramid to finish second in the old First Division, qualify for Europe and reach a first ever the FA Cup final.

Sir Elton’s first concert at the stadium was 47 years ago in 1974 when he was joined on stage by Rod Stewart, he returned in 2005 before his last outing at the ground came in 2010 to help raise money for the club.
