Udinese defender Samir is set to be confirmed as a new signing at Watford, the Watford Observer understands.

The Brazilian was at the training ground this morning to complete a move from the fellow Pozzo-owned club, and has signed a three year deal, with an option to extend it by one more.

His arrival will be announced in the coming days, alongside other new arrivals Hassane Kamara, Edo Kayembe and Domagoj Vida, as the club look to back head coach Claudio Ranieri in the transfer window.

Deals for Kamara and Kayembe are understood to have been tied up, while Vida is not far behind.

With several new players arriving at Vicarage Road, it is certain that others will have to go the other way, with the January window already looking like a busy one for the Hornets.

Reports in Italy this evening claim that Udinese are interested in Christian Kabasele heading in the opposite direction to Samir, however the Watford Observer understands that the Belgian is not likely to be departing this month.

The defender is seen as an important player both on and off the pitch and this evening the Observer has been told he is a figure the club want on board for their relegation battle.
