Watford are set for a potentially season-defining week after their game away at Burnley was rearranged.

The Hornets' match at Turf Moor was suspended at short notice last month, due to a Covid-19 outbreak in the Watford squad.

The fixture will now take place on Tuesday, January 18, just three days after Watford have played Newcastle United at St James' Park and only three days before they play Norwich City at Vicarage Road.

With all three of those sides also battling relegation, Watford will be eyeing up a substantial points tally from the run of fixtures, if they are to move away from the drop zone.

Similarly, those opponents will be hoping that having three games in such a short space of time will take its toll on Claudio Ranieri's side, who have won just two out of 11 games since his arrival.

With a slight gap opening up between the bottom four, next week could go a long way to defining the relegation battle and the Hornets will have to make sure they are on the right side of it, after that game against Norwich.

The game at Turf Moor will kick off at 7.30pm and be shown live on BT Sport.

New dates for the two other matches postponed due to Covid-19, including Crystal Palace at home and Wolverhampton Wanderers away are set to be confirmed in due course.
