Watford starlet Yaser Asprilla will remain on loan at Envigado for the next six months, it has been announced.

The Colombian is viewed with great excitement by the Hornets, with senior sources describing him as "outstanding" and saying they expect him to be playing in the Premier League sooner rather than later.

The teenager agreed a deal to come to Vicarage Road back in August, similar to that which saw Joao Pedro join from Fluminense, and is now officially on the club's books.

Asprilla had been with Envigado since the age of 11 and was given a warm send off by the Colombian side, who were delighted to see him being offered a chance in England.

Announcing his departure, they said:" We are pleased to announce that Yaser Asprilla is a new player for Watford Football Club, an English Premier League team.

"It is an honor for Envigado Fútbol Club to see a youth squad player make the leap to such important football. We wish you all the success and the best on this journey that begins."

Watford attempted to get the player a work permit after his transfer was made official last month, however overseas players now need to accumulate a total of 15 points from six different performance-related categories in order to be granted a permit and Asprilla does not yet meet the threshold.

Therefore he will now remain in Colombia in order to strengthen his case.

Helping his cause is the fact that he is already a full international and was recently selected as part of the Colombia squad for World Cup Qualifiers against Peru and Argentina, although he was unused in either game.

His first senior international appearance came in a friendly against Honduras last month.

During his time as a senior player for Envigado, he scored five goals and provided one assist in 22 appearances. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play out wide.

The Colombian side announced his return to the club with a statement on their website that reads: "We are pleased to announce that Envigado Fútbol Club has reached an agreement with Watford in England, so that Yaser Asprilla, the pride of the Cantera de Héroes, will continue at his home for the next six months. It is a pleasure for the Orange Family to continue counting on the class and talent of a bastion of its seedbed.

"We inflate our chests with pride to have our jewel again with the shirt he loves so much. Vamos Yaser."
