Daniel Bachmann has told Watford supporters that they "deserve way better" than what they had seen from their side this season, with relegation to the Championship confirmed at the weekend.

The Austrian has not played since Claudio Ranieri's final game in charge back in January, but said he would personally "do everything" to help the club in their quest to return to the top flight at the first time of asking.

In a post on his Instagram page, the goalkeeper said the players now had to show pride in their final three matches.

"Absolutely gutted for everyone involved but most of all for you," he wrote.

"You’ve supported us all season, in every situation and you deserve way better than what we’ve given you! Now it’s time for all of us to stick together, show pride in wearing that shirt & defend that crest with all our hearts these last few games and plan & get ready for next season.

"I promise you, we as a team, as a club and I personally will do everything to get the club back up like we’ve done last season! We know what it takes and we’ll put our all into it! Looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday."
