Young Hornets striker Tiago Cukur came off the bench to make his international debut last night as Turkey maintained their 100 per cent record in the Nations League with a 2-0 victory over Lithuania.

The 19-year-old Academy forward had been an unused substitute in his nation’s three previous matches in Group C1 this month, but was given his big moment with six minutes remaining when he replaced former Leicester City loanee Cengiz Under.

It was the latest step up the ladder for the forward, who was given a taste of the Premier League last season when he was on the bench for Watford’s last two home games of the campaign.

The Amsterdam-born player had spent the first half of the 2011/22 season on loan at Doncaster Rovers, scoring once in a total of 26 league and cup appearances, half of which were as a substitute.
