Watford have completed the season-long loan signing of Keinan Davis from Aston Villa – and the move will be made permanent if the Hornets are promoted back to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old was at Vicarage Road last night to watch his new side beat Burnley 1-0 having been at London Colney to complete his medical earlier in the day.

Terms on the player’s move have now been concluded and these include an obligation to make the switch permanent if promotion is achieved, the Watford Observer understands.

Head coach Rob Edwards has made no secret of his wish to sign a young, homegrown forward and has previously told this newspaper he was prepared to be patient to get the player he wanted.

Speaking after the victory over Clarets, Edwards said the move was “very close” to being concluded and said: “I think he’s an excellent player and I’m delighted to get him in.”

With Emmanuel Dennis set to complete his move to Nottingham Forest, the Hornets have bolstered their forward options with the signing of a player who scored five goals in 15 league appearances at the City Ground last season to help Forest reach the top flight via the play-offs.

Born in Stevenage, the 6ft 3in forward has clocked up 73 league appearances for Villa, the majority of which have been from the bench.
