Head coach Rob Edwards drew upon his knowledge of working with Kortney hause before when he brought the defender's name to the Watford recruitment table.

Edwards has, from day one, stressed the importance of wanting the best players he can get that also have the ideal attitude and will add to the excellent spirit in the changing room.

Knowing Hause, he was confident the loan signing from Aston Villa would fit in perfectly.

“I worked with him before when he was at Wolves and I was first-team coach there, so I know all about his qualities," said Edwards.

“He’s a very good player and a really good person. He’s desperate to play football, and to contribute towards us being successful this season.”

The 27-year-old defender needs match time, having only played nine times for Villa last season, and 10 times the season before that.

That hunger to play, combined with the qualities that Edwards knows Hause possesses, mean the Watford boss is confident this loan deal will work for everyone.

“I think this is a move where we it can be said that we’ll be helping his career and he’ll very much be helping with our ambitions – so it’s great for everyone involved," said Edwards.
