Jeremy Ngakia faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines again as a result of the hamstring injury he sustained at Blackburn on Tuesday night.

The defender was making his first appearance of the season but limped off in the second half and is now ruled out for some time.

Just when he thought his right-sided options were at full strength, head coach Rob Edwards is back to square one.

“It’s really frustrating for Jeremy on a human level,” he said.

“I thought he did well the other night and was one of the few positives. Then he gets injured, bless him.

“We haven’t got a crystal ball. We can’t predict he’s going to get that. In our heads with Jeremy, Mario (Gaspar) and Hassane (Kamara) we have enough there.

“We’re hopeful with Hassane for tomorrow and then with Mario, as he’s come into the team he’s looked more and more assured, and he’s seeing what the Championship is about.

“I’m more than pretty confident with what we have, it’s just really disappointing for Jeremy as he showed on Tuesday how much he can help us.”

Kortney Hause and Ismaila Sarr are both rated as 50/50 for the game with Sunderland. Sarr rolled his ankle in the first half at Ewood Park, while Hause missed that game after spraining his ankle in training.

Definitely ruled out are midfielders Tom Cleverley and Imran Louza – Edwards hopes to have them available after the international break.
