A penalty save from Karl Beaumont ensured Oxhey Jets got a deserved point following a 1-1 draw with high-flying Burnham on Saturday.
Kevin Christou’s side are still to register their first win since becoming a Combined Counties League Premier Division North side this season, but the Jets boss will be hoping his side can push on from their second point of the campaign against a Burnham team only one point off top spot.
In an even and well-contested game, Jets were disappointed to fall behind in the 40th minute to a Rhys Harper goal.
However, the hosts began the second half well and were rewarded when Marcus Rivers converted a Kyle Matthew cross.
It looked like Jets’ efforts would go unrewarded when the visitors were awarded a penalty for handball seven minutes from time, but Beaumont got down with a strong left hand to keep it out.
