Watford head coach Slaven Bilic is hoping to add Julian Dicks to his coaching staff at Vicarage Road.

The former West Ham and Liverpool defender, now 54, was appointed first-team coach at West Ham when Bilic took over in June 2015, and stayed with him until he was sacked in November 2017.

Dicks then had a spell managing non-league Heybridge Swifts before leaving in July 2019 to again link up with Bilic at West Brom.

Bilic expected "much, much better"

When Bilic left the Hawthorns in December 2020, Dicks left too and then rejoined Heybridge Swifts as manager the following summer. He left in September 2021 after a run of five straight defeats.

Bilic was asked about Dicks joining him at Watford after Tuesday’s game with Swansea and said: “We’ll see. He was one of my coaches when I was at West Ham and also at West Brom.

“He was a part of my staff and I enjoyed working with him. He is very important, and hopefully he will come, yes.”

Dicks was a no-nonsense and very combative defender, earning himself the nickname The Terminator for his tough tackling.

He was also an expert penalty and free-kick taker, scoring more than 50 goals for the Hammers despite playing at the back.
