Leisure centre bosses are "exploring options" over the future of an indoor climbing wall that has been closed since the pandemic.

While other facilities at Watford Leisure Centre Central in Hempstead Road have reopened after Covid restrictions ended, the wall has stayed shut.

Leisure centre operator Everyone Active says its use was already “declining” before Covid.

In an update offered this week, Everyone Active and Watford Borough Council said: “The climbing wall facility at Watford Leisure Centre Central has remained closed since the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We had seen a decline in attendance figures prior to this and the pandemic restrictions meant it was no longer viable for us to continue to operate the facility during this time/period.

“Everyone Active and the council are currently exploring options surrounding the future operation of the wall. We will update members as soon as we have a firm plan in place.”
