Defender Scott Holding has joined Northern Premier League club Stalybridge Celtic on a month’s loan.

The 19-year-old has gone straight into the Stalybridge starting XI for this afternoon’s away game at Ashton United.

Holding signed a two-year contract with Watford in May, joining from Stockport County where he had been captain of the Under-23 side.

Having been on the books at Manchester United as a youngster, Holding progressed through the ranks at Edgeley Park and made his first-team debut in an FA Trophy tie against Larkhall Athletic in January.

Ironically, Holding also had a spell on loan at Ashton United, the side that Stalybridge are playing today.

Since moving to Vicarage Road, Holding has been a regular in Omer Riza’s Under-21 side.
