With only three days between the win over Norwich and the trip to Millwall, head coach Slaven Bilic is not expecting to have any additions to his squad tomorrow night.

The one exception may be defender Mario Gaspar, who has been able to join in with the first-team squad after shaking off a hamstring injury.

“Gaspar is back in training,” said Bilic. “When it happened against Swansea we were expecting it to be worse, but he’s training again and we’ll see how he goes. Gosling has done well in that position though and that takes away some of the pressure.”

Midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru returned to action as a substitute at Millwall after a lengthy injury lay-off, but then wasn’t in the squad against Norwich

“I told Tom he needs one or two games to get his fitness back, and I can’t just give him a game,” explained Bilic.

“He understood that and we’ll see with him also.”

Joseph Hungbo was also an absentee from the 18 named to face Norwich having been regularly in the matchday squad so far this season – but Samuel Kalu was on the bench and made a very brief appearance at the end of the game.

“If I was picking a squad based on mentality, determination and hard work then Hungbo would be in the First XI. He is a very good lad,” said Bilic.

“But I also spoke with Kalu, because when I came here I was told his fitness levels were not good. I couldn’t understand how that could be when he wasn’t injured when I arrived, they had time to work on him and that shouldn’t be the case.

“In the last 10 days or so, since Blackpool, I have talked with Kalu a few times, he is training very well, and we can see in him something that makes us smile. He can beat players in a one v one, and the reason why he jumped over Joseph into the squad was he is showing us he can make a difference on the pitch.

“Offensively he has got something that not many players here have. He has that explosion and sharpness. He is a very interesting player. He’s still not totally fit but he can be an impact player for us, 25 or 30 minutes maybe.”

Of course, eyes will already be on the visit of Luton to Vicarage Road for Sunday's derby game.

“I am very aware of how important Sunday is and what it means to everyone, but right now I’m not thinking about it too much because we have a midweek game," said the head coach.

“My main thoughts about this week are around the situation with injuries, and the players who just came back into the squad are still not fully up to fitness. In that respect, I have to think a little bit about Sunday.

“But right now, the game with Millwall is the main thing in my mind."
