It really was a case of goals, goals and more goals as the Watford Sunday League’s 17 league and cup fixtures produced a remarkable 114 goals, an average of almost seven a game.

Premier Division

St Josephs remain at the summit after they came out on top of a high-scoring encounter with Old Fullerians 8-4.

Joes only had a two-goal lead at the halfway point, before going three ahead early in the second half, before Fullerians pulled it back to 3-2.

But five more goals wrapped up the points for the victors, prior to Fullerians scoring two late on.

Lewis Smith and Liam Smyth each netted a hat-trick for Joes, with Taylor Cobb and Ronnie Blagden also on target.

Charlie Hailey hit a double for Fullerians, supported by single strikes from Harry Tamplin and Thomas Guichemerre.

North Watford are two points behind Joes in second place with a game in hand and are still to suffer a defeat in the league this season. They beat WD Bushey 3-2 who had enjoyed an impressive start to life in the top flight.

WD built on that platform by taking an early lead against the defending champions when a defensive error allowed Daniel Flanagan to net.

North Watford struck back, taking a 2-1 lead before the break, equalising through Gurkan Gokmen after the WD keeper could only fumble a Daryl Brown free-kick, and then Jamie Speer curled an effort into the top corner.

Reece Cameron made it 3-1 thanks to an effort from around 35 yards, but WD never gave up and pulled a goal back when Hamze Ali set up Joshua Quinlivan to score with a volley from the edge of the 18-yard box.

Along with North Watford, the only other unbeaten team in the division are Evergreen after they drew 2-2 with Cassiobury Rangers.

Rangers went ahead early on when Corey Botten was found by Aidan Lesslie and scooped the ball over the top for Elliot Burr. Evergreen thought the danger was averted as their centre back headed towards his goalkeeper, but Burr athletically slid in to nick the ball around him before he was able to claim it.

Evergreen pulled level in the first minute of the second half when substitute Ryan O’Sullivan made an instant impact by intercepting a back pass and slotting in from the tightest of angles.

O’Sullivan then gave Evergreen the lead when he finished after a well-constructed passing move down the flank, but it was not enough to give his team all three points as Cassiobury levelled ten minutes from time when Sam Mortimer laid the ball off for Botten, whose cross was flicked on by Rob Ladmore into the bottom left corner.

Division Two

Sparta Phoenix registered a first victory of the season with a thumping 4-0 win over third-placed West Herts.

Craig Putman struck twice, with a goal each for Louis Moore and James Lefrere.

Division Three

Inter went to the top of the table as they beat previous leaders Woodside Reserves 4-2, James Oldham with a double and one apiece for Dan Kenna and Chris Stead.

The Woodside replies came through Dane Weimar and an own goal.

Everett Rovers are in second place after making it three wins from three with a thumping 10-3 victory over Bricket Wood Acorns.

They actually went a goal down in the opening ten minutes before hitting back in deadly fashion, as Leo Broom struck four times, William Powell twice, and Charlie Frost, Ben Heels, Rhys Dibsdale-Hatch and an own goal also registered.

Alex Michael, Jack Micklewright and Charlie Buss replied for Acorns.

Abbots Wanderers built on their first point a fortnight ago with a first win of the season coming thanks to an impressive 5-2 away victory over Chorleywood Club AFC.

Andy Denyer struck a hat-trick, with Jordan Standley and Max Hale also on the scoresheet.

Jordan Allen and Catalin Piritaiche replied for the home side.

A single Richard McCrossan goal was enough for Rio Rovers to beat Batchworth 1-0.

Chairman’s Cup Round One

Two Second Division sides, Glenn SSC and CF Fajecka, put out First Division opposition in Forza Watford and Watford Town.

Glenn, who have assembled a vastly experienced squad which looks far too good for the division they are currently in, beat Forza 9-1, with Chris Blunden hitting a hat-trick, John Smith and Sam Clark getting a brace each, and Simeon Armstrong and Tom Kennedy also finding the net.

Domenic Leacock getting the Forza consolation goal.

Kacper Szatkowski hit his own treble as CF Fajeczka beat Watford Town 4-2, Alexander Bushnell getting their other goal.

Ollie and Ben Lawford scored the Town replies.

In the clash between the leaders of Divisions One and Two, Watford Sports and Dome Bar, there was no upset as Sports ran out 6-2 winners.

Chess United, who have endured a poor start to their league season, beat Dunnings Bar 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

Both of the goals came in the first half, Ben Bugeja scoring from more than 40 yards out, before a defensive error allowed James Fitzgerald to level.

The shoot-out was decided thanks to Chess keeper Joe Sansom saving the second Dunnings spot kick.

The three all-First Division ties all produced heavy away wins, with Hertfordshire Eagles beating Chalfont Saints 6-1.

Eagles had a dream start, taking the lead after just 30 seconds when a long goal kick from Brandon Scott bounced over the defence to Charlie Kimpton who set up Jack McLaughlin to head in.

Within four minutes, the lead was doubled when Kimpton netted himself thanks to a fine solo goal. Reece Hatherell then headed in an Ed Rogers free-kick for the third on the half-hour.

Chalfont pulled a goal back before the break thanks to Jake Rodger, but that only provided temporary respite for Saints as Eagles added three more in the second half through a Glenn O'Malley penalty and goals from Rogers and James Hicks.

Woodside also scored six as they beat AFC Hatch End 6-2.

It was Hatch End who took an early lead thanks to a goal from Kareem Deckon.

Harry Beaumont rounded the keeper to equalise before Luke Dolan set up Will Parkinson to score with a left-footed strike into the bottom corner before half-time.

Jamie Dunlop tapped into an open goal after the break, Hatch End pulled one back through Dom Baxter, but it was Parkinson who completed the scoring with two more to seal his hat-trick, the final goal a penalty.

SOCA overcame Langleybury 7-1 after taking control of the contest in the first half by opening up a 3-0 lead.

George Coffey led the way with a double, Stevie Dowling, Jordan Austin, Olly Colbourne, Scott Monaghan and Micah Burton were also on target, with Oliver Ilott scoring Langleybury’s consolation in the second half.

The only all-Second Division clash saw King George beat BB 5-1 thanks to efforts from Karl Davidson, Aaron Hirst, Collum Parott, Florjan Belegu and an own goal.

BB replied to thanks to an Alexandru Ungureanu effort.

Denis Jackson Intermediate Cup Round One

The Cross completed the line-up for the quarter-finals after they beat PTH United 5-1 in the only outstanding tie from the first round.

Will Keddy, Connor Powell, Raf Martins, Troy Norbert and Charles Long all scored, with Jamie Burford netting the PTH goal.
