Watford Women continued their impressive scoring form to ease into the second round of the Women’s FA Cup with a 7-1 thrashing of Fulham at Grosvenor Vale.

A Poppy Wilson brace and a Flo Fyfe goal fired the Golden Girls into a 3-0 lead by the interval of yesterday's tie. Fyfe doubled her tally before a three-goal salvo in the last ten minutes from Gemma Davison and two from Bianca Baptiste rounded off an emphatic victory for the hosts.

Damon Lathrope's side have been rewarded with another home tie against Crawley Wasps in round two. This is due to be played on November 27.

Davison went close to making the breakthrough inside two minutes, but Watford didn’t have to wait much longer for their opener as Wilson capitalised on a defensive scramble to put her side in front after seven minutes.

Annie Rossiter twice went close before Fyfe did find the back of the net with a well-taken curler in the 34th minute, and Wilson doubled her tally with a header five minutes later.

Watford’s fourth goal arrived just after the hour when Fyfe clinically slotted home, but Fulham stuck at their task and were rewarded for their efforts with 15 minutes remaining when Alex Hayman rounded off a quick attacking move.

However, the four-goal margin was soon restored when Davison fired home and, having replaced Fyfe earlier in the second half, Baptiste applied the gloss with two well-taken finishes in almost as many minutes in the closing stages.
