Ismaila Sarr recognised the support of the Watford fans after Monday night’s victory over West Brom at Vicarage Road.

The forward scored the second goal in the 3-2 success and went straight towards the Rookery End, where he celebrated passionately.

“I went to celebrate with the fans because when I score goals I’m very, very happy,” he said.

“The fans make so many sacrifices to come here so the minimum I could do was go to the fans.

“I’m very, very happy about the whole dynamic and that I scored a goal again. I need to score goals, but all the action for my goal was thanks to my other teammates.

“We needed to win today because we needed to go up in the table, so massive congratulations to everyone in the team and a massive thank you to the fans.”

The Senegal international paid tribute to the rest of the Watford team, which is almost back to full strength as the long list of injuries shortens.

“I’m very happy to play with them, they are great players,” he said.

“They need me and I need them. All I can say is I’m very happy to have them by my side.”

Having taken four points from the last two games against teams looking to get promoted, it’s the same challenge this Saturday as the Hornets travel to second-placed Sheffield United.

“Every game from now until the end of the season is very important,” said Sarr.

“We have to treat every game like a final, we have to go there and try to win them all. We have to work hard and we try to go there to win.”
