Tomorrow in the Watford Observer, new Watford head coach Chris Wilder gives his first full and exclusive interview since taking the job.

The entire text will form four individual stories, the first of which will be available on the website from 6am tomorrow, while an abridged version will appear in the newspaper.

I spoke at length to Wilder in his office at Watford’s London Colney training ground this morning, the day after he took his first training session since he was announced as the successor to Slaven Bilic on Tuesday.

In the interview, he covers a wide range of topics such as:

  • Why he took the job
  • The challenge of the next 11 games
  • Watford’s squad and current league position
  • His views on formations and styles of play
  • The use of data, stats and video analysis
  • His time at Sheffield United and Middlesbrough
  • What he learned from the Premier League
  • The staff he’s brought with him
  • What might happen after these 11 games

The full articles run to more than 3,000 words and the interview is the only one Wilder has given this week other than to official club channels.

To make sure you don't miss these interviews or any other Watford FC story, you can get a digital Watford Observer subscription for just £3 for three months. You'll also get less ads, a faster loading website and reader offers. Click here to learn more about this special offer.

When talking about what he feels is his main priority in such a short space of time, Wilder said: “My job is to motivate and put a structure in place for these players to have a really good go.

“People know what I’m about: I’m a competitor, I want to win and I want to go about it the right way.

“Watford should not be sat 10th in this division, but we have an opportunity all of us - supporters, players, staff, stakeholders and me – to kick-start things.”

The full interview, in four parts, will be on the website tomorrow.
