One of the Championship’s more experienced referees is set to take charge when Watford look to get back on track this weekend following their poor showing in the 3-0 defeat at Leeds United.

Oliver Langford, who has been refereeing in the second tier since the 2009/10 season, has been appointed to officiate the Hornets’ game against Middlesbrough at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

The official has been in charge of a total of seven league and cup games this season and has shown a total of 29 yellow cards and two reds.

Langford was in the middle for just one Watford match last season, the 1-0 defeat at Hull City in April.

Hristo Karaivanov and Bhupinder Singh Gill are due to be the assistant referees for the 3pm kick-off, with Lewis Smith the fourth official.

Michael Carrick’s side will travel to Vicarage Road boosted by their best week of the season so far, with last night’s 2-0 win at Bradford City in the Carabao Cup coming off the back of their first league victory when they beat Southampton 2-1 on Saturday.
