Oxhey Jets bounced back from their Herts FA Centenary Shield defeat on Saturday in style by turning in a superb performance to draw 1-1 at Langley last night.

Having been beaten 2-0 by Oracle Components in the cup, any lessons about complacency had been learned as Jets were back to their best at the fourth-placed side in Division One of the Combined Counties League.

Langley took an early lead but Jets levelled in the 43rd minute when Olly Pope played a superb searching through ball that set up Archie James who made no mistake.

The visitors lost Danny Fowler at half-time after he suffered a nasty cut on his ankle, but Archie Sykes came on and did well and the defence, which impressed as a unit all night, continued to keep Langley at bay.

It was turning into an end-to-end game which raised the passion on both sides.

In the 77th minute, Langley were reduced to ten men following a bad challenge. The referee then chose to dismiss a member of each dugout after a few words were exchanged on the touchline.

The sending off seemed to spur the home side on, making them go all out for a winning goal.

Jets, though, could have had the winner but in an incident remarkably similar to the referee stopping the advantage in the recent Manchester City game, James was through one-on-one with the Langley keeper before the whistle went to bring it back for a Jets free-kick and a Langley booking.

There were some fine individual displays across the whole Jets team with James, Pope and Dylan Hickman-Singh back to their earlier season form.

However, skipper Harry Brady was named man of the match for his leadership and performance in the strong defensive.
