Having returned to Vicarage Road for a second spell as Watford’s sporting director, Gian Luca Nani has given his first full interview to The Watford Observer.

The Italian began his second spell at the club almost a month ago after his predecessor Cristiano Giaretta left to take up a job with Cypriot First Division side Pafos.

Nani was a key figure as the Pozzo family bought Watford in 2012, and then became the club’s sporting director.

He spent two seasons with the Hornets before leaving shortly ahead of the start of the 2014/15 season.

In the four-part interview which will begin later today on the Watford Observer website, Nani talks about:

  • His early career working with Guardiola, Pirlo and Baggio
  • How he came to Watford in the first place
  • The ‘greatest single moment of my football career’
  • Why he views Watford as his home
  • What led him to leave in 2014
  • How working around the world has helped him personally and professionally
  • The differences he found at Watford after nearly a decade
  • What he is expecting during the January transfer window
  • How his scouting work goes beyond known targets
  • His relationship with Valerien Ismael
  • Why fans should watch him if Watford score at away games!
  • Has he been told he must use particular agents?
  • His thoughts on the rest of this season

The first part of the interview will be online later this afternoon.
