Terry Devereux Presidents Cup Second Round

It was a remarkable morning with the two games played in the Watford Sunday League’s cup competition for teams in the top two divisions producing 33 goals.

Premier Division Glenn SSC defeated mid-table First Division side CF Watford Continentals 20-0, whilst the all-First Division tie between Watford United and Chess United saw Chess win 10-3.

Lewis Putman opened the scoring in just the third minute for Glenn, calmly slotting past the keeper, before Luke Lloyd made it 2-0 shortly after.

Caden Barber scored a penalty and Lloyd and Putman netted braces to make it 5-0 at the break.

But the floodgates really opened in the second half as Glenn netted 15 more times, ruthlessly punishing mistakes and poor defending from CF Watford.

Chris Blunden came on as a half-time substitute to score five times, Sim Armstrong netted a hat-trick, before Lloyd completed his own.

Putman also netted a second half treble, making it five for the game as well, while George Hobson, Frankie Henley and Gary Yerby completed the rout.

In the other tie, it was actually Watford United who took the lead early on after Chess failed to clear their lines from a corner, leaving a tap in for Murtaza Hussain.

But within five minutes, Chess were awarded a penalty after one of the Watford defenders made a save with his hand on the line, leading to a red card and the resulting spot-kick was put away by James Richmond.

Chess soon went into the lead when Jamie Ivory lobbed the oncoming keeper from distance before James Todd made it 3-1 with a thunderbolt shot.

Cam Murray tapped in for the fourth before adding a second shortly after with a composed finish.

Todd got his second with a header from a cross, before Watford pulled one back just before the break from a well-taken finish by Adam Anwar.

Todd made it 7-2 to complete his hat-trick but Watford then scored a third from Ellis Constantinuo who struck from outside the box.

That was as good as it good for the home side, with Will Bennett making it 8-3, Murray completed his hat-trick with a tidy finish for the ninth, and the final goal came from Richmond with his second of the game after his deep free-kick floated over everyone and into the goal.

Division Two

Everett Rovers continued their unbeaten run with a 5-1 home win over Dunnings Bar.

Jordan Standley and Sam Waller before scored a brace each, with the other goal coming from Archie Potton.

Harley Wilson netted the Dunnings consolation.

Division Three

Everett Rovers Reserves gained a fourth league victory of the campaign with a 4-2 win over PTH United, who have just five games left to try and find their first points.

Tolu Agawara, Leo Broom, Stephen Bunting and Regan Weiser were all target for the home side, with Martin Connor and Alex Deighan replying for the visitors.
