A familiar face is due to be in the middle on Saturday when Watford will venture into the Lions’ Den and seek to get back on track after their horror show against Huddersfield Town.

The EFL website has announced that Gavin Ward has been appointed as the referee for the Championship fixture at Millwall.

This will be the fourth time Ward has officiated in a game involving the Hornets this season, having also taken charge of the 2-1 FA Cup victory over Chesterfield in January, the 1-1 draw at Cardiff City in October and the 1-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers in August.

In total, the Surrey official has been in the middle for 21 league and cup fixtures this season, issuing 90 yellow cards and two reds.

Andrew Dallison and Garry Maskell are due to be the assistant referees for the 3pm kick-off at the Den, with Scott Jackson the fourth official.

While both teams will go into the game with the same poor record of one victory in nine games in all competitions, Millwall’s win came on Saturday with a surprising 2-1 success at Southampton following the return of Neil Harris as head coach.
