Midfielder Junior Gyamfi has become the second Under-21 player to join Hemel Hempstead Town in the last week.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Macaulay linked up with the Tudors last week, and played in their 1-0 National League South defeat at Eastbourne Borough on Saturday.

Gyamfi came on for the last 20 minutes of the Under-21’s 7-0 drubbing at Millwall yesterday, and will make his debut for Hemel this evening as they travel to face Bath City at Twerton Park.

Born in Germany, Gyamfi moved to Vicarage Road in September.

The 19-year-old began his career at MK Dons, and while still only 18 he scored twice in eight appearances while on loan at Hertford Town of the Southern League Division One Central.

Returning to MK Dons for the start of last season, Gyamfi made a senior appearance in an EFL Trophy tie against Cheltenham in August 2022.

He spent the latter half of last season on loan at Southern League Premier Division Central side Bedford Town, where he scored four times in 25 appearances.

Gyamfi has made 16 appearances this season for Charlie Daniels’ Under-21 side, and scored a couple of goals in a 4-4 draw away at Swansea earlier in the campaign.

Hemel are currently sitting 17th in the National League South table, some way clear of the relegation zone but are currently on a run of six defeats in their last seven matches.

The Tudors have made three new signings in one day, also bringing in former Yeovil Town defender Jamie Sendles-White and forward Pierre Fonkou on loan from Oxford City.

Two other young Hornets out on loan locally – keeper Gabriel Ortelli and forward Michael Adu-Poku – were without a game this weekend as Kings Langley didn’t have a fixture.

However, they are due to host AFC Dunstable at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium on Saturday.

Another Watford Under-21, Scott Holding, continued his loan spell at Dover Athletic as he played in their 1-0 defeat away at Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.
