Goals from Josh Keyes and Albert Eames saw Watford Under-21s come from a goal down to claim their second win in a week.
The Hornets rallied well at Vicarage Road to beat Cardiff City 2-1 giving them two victories in seven days after none in 10 games.
Jonathan Lawson shot tamely when presented with an early chance before George Abbot made a vital block down the other end.
The visitors went ahead in the final minute of the first half but the Hornets levelled things on the hour-mark when Josh Mullins played in Nickson Okosun, and he squared for Keyes to net from close range.
Keyes came close to adding a second when Lawson and Prince Sikiru combined to tee him up for a shooting chance that he sent narrowly wide.
With a quarter of an hour to go, keeper Sam Morris made a good save to keep the scores level and four minutes later Watford grabbed the winner.
A corner was played short to Eames and he took a touch before striking a low drive which seemed to deceive the keeper on its way past him.
Right at the death Morris – who seems to enjoy playing at Vicarage Road after his heroics in the FA Youth Cup semi-final – made another key intervention to keep the three points safe.
It was a victory which moves Watford up a place to seventh in the Premier Development League South table, climbing above Swansea City on goal difference.
Cardiff get a swift chance of revenge, though, when they host Watford next Friday (May 2) at the Cardiff City Stadium (2pm kick-off).
Watford’s final game of the season is then at Vicarage Road on Monday May 5 (2pm) when Sheffield Wednesday are the visitors.
