Defender Francisco Sierralta is on the verge of agreeing a move to French side Auxerre.
The 28-year-old Chilean internationals is in advanced talks with the Ligue 1 side over a move that could net Watford in the region of £1.5m.
That would be quite some fee for a player who started less than half of the first-team games last season, and was only named in the XI for three of the last 18 league fixtures.
Realising seven figures for Sierralta could also help the Hornets as they seek to keep hold of the key players from the 24/25 campaign.
Not selling the likes of Giorgi Chakvetadze, Imran Louza and Kwadwo Baah would be a considerable feat and, if the potential permanent signing of young defender James Abankwah from Udinese and season-long loan of Caleb Wiley from Chelsea are completed as anticipated, Watford would have the core of the squad back for pre-season training.
Sierralta joined the Hornets from Udinese in 2020, having started his playing career in his home country with Universidad Catolica.
Before moving to England, the big defender had gained senior game time while on loan at both Parma and Empoli.
His first season at Vicarage Road saw him play 29 times and net his first goal for the club in a 4-1 win over Rotherham United.
Having helped the Hornets to promotion, Sierralta was limited to only seven outings in the Premier League during the 2021/22 relegation season.
During the last three Championship campaigns, the Chilean has played 78 league games and made a further eight cup appearances.
In total, he has played 123 times for Watford, and scored two goals.
Sierralta is currently away with his national team, as they prepare for World Cup qualifying games against Argentina (June 6) and Bolivia (June 10).
He currently has 15 full caps, although the most recent of those came as a substitute in a friendly against Slovakia in November 2022.
Auxerre finished 11th in Ligue 1 in the season just completed, and have former Luton Town defender Gabriel Osho in their squad.
They had players on loan from Bournemouth (Hamed Traore), Wolves (Ki-Jana Hoever) and Burnley (Han-Noah Massengo) during the 24/25 campaign.
