The rapid rise of a former Watford Women’s loan signing has continued after her shock inclusion in the England squad for Euro 2025.
Teenage striker Michelle Agyemang has been named in Sarina Weigman’s 23-player squad for the tournament in Switzerland, which starts on July 2, despite only having one senior cap to her name.
That appearance though, saw the 19-year-old make an instant impact on the international stage as she came off the bench and just 41 seconds later scored a stunning volley in a defeat to Belgium.
The Arsenal striker, who has been on loan at Brighton, joined the Golden Girls on a dual sign agreement from the Gunners in July 2023.
She missed the first half of the Women’s Championship season after sustaining an injury on her debut, but was to consistently catch the eye with her pace and power, scoring five goals in 10 appearances as the Hornets were unable to beat the drop.

“She is so powerful that it gives you more options,” then Watford Women’s head coach Damon Lathrope said of Agyemang’s qualities in December 2023.
“As a midfielder or a defender you know you can put the ball in an area and she’s going to get there and make something of it.
“Likewise when you’re under pressure and you need to play the ball into someone, you know it’s going to stick.”
England head to Switzerland as defending champions but the build-up to today’s squad announcement has been rocked by goalkeeper Mary Earps and midfielder Fran Kirby announcing their retirements from international football, while defender Millie Bright ruled her self out to focus on her mental and physical wellbeing.
