Watford Under-21s were knocked out of the Hertfordshire Senior Cup as they were beaten 4-0 by Hitchin Town on Tuesday night.
The young Hornets exit at the quarter-final stage after conceding twice in each half at Top Field.
Taylor Rhiney gave the hosts the lead with a penalty on 21 minutes before Liam Brooks finished off a counter-attack to make it two before the break.
Watford pushed in the second half, Max Smith coming closest, but the hosts pulled away in the closing stages.
Cole Butler and Lewis Franklin both scored inside the last six minutes to seal Watford's fate.
Charlie Daniels' side are next in action against QPR in the PL Professional Development League on Tuesday.
