A Watford Under-21s side missing a few key players lost 2-0 at Millwall on Friday afternoon.
With Josh Mullins, Albert Eames and Amin Nabizada all on first-team duty, Aidy Mariappa's side still created chances but were unable to convert them as they slipped to fifth in the southern section of the PL Professional Development League.
Elias Mansor gave the hosts the lead in the first half after a counter-attack, before Nikoloz Chikovani forced a save and Max Smith hit the side-netting.
Mansor scored again before the break to put the young Hornets in an awkward spot, though they continued to push after half-time.
Kiefer Gorman, Chikovani and Jonathan Lawson all had opportunities but they were not converted.
